J/DCRA - Jail/Detention Centers Risk Assessment

This is an instrument which assesses a department's correctional/ detention exposure to liability. The Law Enforcement Risk Assessment (LERA) is a parallel instrument for use in law enforcement operations. The document contains a series of questions about many key aspects of a jail or detention operation, with an emphasis on "critical task" policy issues and on key staff training isssues. After the agency completes the J/DCRA, a review and written report, with recommendations, is completed by our correctional experts. The report assists agencies in identifying areas of both strengths and needed improvements in the jail/detention operation. Occasionally, the report is followed with a brief review on-site and a full day of technical assistance to go over with command staff the report's recommendations and any other liability issues.
